Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing action and insanity with similar excitement, all while presenting captivating, socially charged tales. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two creators whose work have embodied all of those things.

About the Series

Based on Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' structure by having a new location and group of personalities in every instalment.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady belief and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” noted Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the core of society through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our mutual bold, ambitious sensibility to the audience.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
