Ex- Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
